Special Reading Initiatives
The Ministry of Education has carried out an ongoing project called Libriamoci, giornata di Lettura nelle scuole (“Libriamoci,” reading day in schools) since 2014. The main purpose of this project is to attract new readers and to stimulate students in reading aloud, using their imagination, and adding to their own personal literacy. Another project promoted by the Ministry, A Book for a Friend, has the purpose of fostering culture and a love for reading. It was developed for younger generations that are captured by modern technologies with consequential decreasing time devoted to reading.
