Mathematics Achievement in the Middle School Years: IEA's Third International Mathematics and Science Report

This report presents mathematics achievement results for students in the two grades with the largest proportion of 13-year-olds – the seventh and eighth grades in most countries – across 42 countries. Special emphasis is placed on the eighth-grade results, including selected information about students' background and classroom practices in teaching mathematics.
