TIMSS International Database for the Final Year released

IEA announces the availability of the TIMSS International Database for the Final Year of Secondary School.

The TIMSS International Database contains a myriad of educatrional variables collected in more than 20 countries, including achievement results in mathematics and science literacy, advanced mathematics, and physics for the final year of secondary school students and background data collected from students, their teachers, and their school principals.

TIMSS International Press Conference

The third achievement results from the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) were announced on February 24, 1998 at a press conference at Boston College. Following a statement by Dr. Tjeerd Plomp, Chairman of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), TIMSS' sponsoring organization, Dr. Albert E. Beaton, TIMSS International Study Director, presented the study results. These statements as well as the press release announcing the study results are now available on-line.

The TIMSS International Database contains a myriad of educatrional variables collected in more than 40 countries, including achievement results in mathematics and science for third- ,fourth-, seventh- , and eighth-grade students and background data collected from students, their teachers, and their school principals.
