Dr. Sebastian Moncaleano
Senior Research Specialist, Digital Assessment Development
Dr. Sebastian Moncaleano conducts research relevant to innovative item development including new item formats and interactive elements to enhance digital assessments. He applies the results of his research to the development of science Problem Solving and Inquiry (PSI) tasks. He is also part of the process data research group with an emphasis on how process data gathered from previous assessment cycles may inform future item development.
Dr. Moncaleano completed his PhD in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment at Boston College. Previous to his doctoral degree, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. In the past, Dr. Moncaleano has conducted research at the Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice at Dublin City University and executed content alignment studies for the Massachusetts Department of Education. He also has experience as a graduate level instructor and a middle school teacher.
