Dr. Ieva Johansone
Senior Research Director, Digital Systems, Operations and Quality Verification

Since 2005, Ieva has led the development and coordination of TIMSS and PIRLS survey operations and quality assurance procedures, overseeing the implementation of operational processes across an international network of collaborating organizations and participating countries. She supports participating countries throughout all phases of assessment implementation and oversees the production and quality assurance of national assessment instruments. Following the transition of TIMSS and PIRLS to digital administration, Ieva has led the digitalization and localization of assessment instruments, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with international standards.

Prior to joining the center, Ieva worked on TIMSS and PIRLS data processing and quality control at the IEA Data Processing and Research Center in Hamburg, Germany. Her career in educational research began in 1999 at the University of Latvia, where she served as the PIRLS 2001 National Research Coordinator for Latvia, and where she earned her PhD in Management Sciences, Educational Management.
