Use and Impact of TIMSS

Indonesia’s participation in TIMSS has encouraged the Ministry of Education and Culture to give more attention to revising the country’s mathematics and science curricula. In the reformed educational system (in place since 2006), chemistry is included in the national content standards for science. The Indonesian government used TIMSS results to revise the curriculum. Another curriculum revision undertaken in 2013 used TIMSS frameworks and results to fill the gap between the previous curriculum and the competencies measured by TIMSS.
