Special Reading Initiatives
Every year many scientific and pedagogical conferences devoted to the issues of reading support are held. The activity of the Society of Russian Literature has resumed. As a generalization of the work that was carried out for several years, in June 2017 the government of the Russian Federation adopted The Program of Support of Childrenʼs and Youthful Reading in the Russian Federation.
The authors of textbooks on literary reading have begun to pay more attention to the selection of texts that are of interest to boys. Previously, most of the texts were more interesting to girls (e.g., stories that have girls as the main characters, more interesting topics for girls).
