Elena collaborates with other team members, consultants, and country representatives on the development, implementation, and reporting of all PIRLS international assessments, including PIRLS, PIRLS Literacy, and ePIRLS. Prior to joining the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center in 2015, Elena was a researcher with the ORCA (Online Research and Comprehension Assessment) Project at the University of Connecticut. Additionally, Elena taught first grade in Louisiana and high school English and Reading in Connecticut. She holds a Bachelor’s in English and Comparative Literary Studies from Occidental College and a Master’s in Literacy, Language, and Culture from the University of Michigan. Elena is a PhD candidate in the Cognition, Instruction, and Learning Technologies program at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education.
